In the rapidly evolving landscape of digital innovation, collaboration and knowledge sharing have become the foundation for progress. For this purpose, in July the iFactory3D team had the privilege to participate in a project meeting hosted by the Kunststoffinstitut Lüdenscheid. This event was made possible by our membership in CODE_n, an innovative platform that brings together digital pioneers and visionaries from different industries.

iFactory3D elaborates on 3D printing with conveyor belt

The meeting, which is part of the “Technologiescout 5” initiative, took place on July 26 at FANUC Europe‘s premises. It was an opportunity for forward-thinking minds to meet, share insights and explore the latest advances in the digital field. The iFactory3D team was excited to be part of this dynamic gathering and showcase our advanced 3D belt printing technologies. The day was peppered with interesting presentations and discussions. Artur Steffen, founder of iFactory3D took the opportunity to explain the intricacies of 3D conveyor belt printing. The potential of this technology to revolutionize manufacturing processes by combining speed, precision and adaptability left a lasting impression on the participants.

Versatile insights into the world of production

Dr. Thomas Czumanski, founder of flipsight, added another layer of insight to the event. He delved into the world of smart training and skills management in manufacturing. His expertise highlighted how the fusion of digital technologies and training methods can increase productivity and rationalize operations in the manufacturing landscape.
Dr. Martin Philipp Allmendinger, founder of OMMg, provided a comprehensive overview of digitalization with a particular focus on the implications for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). His remarks underscored the importance of embracing digital transformation to remain competitive in an increasingly digitized world.

Academy for pioneering manufacturing processes

The event’s host, FANUC Europe, showcased its own expertise through product demonstrations and tours of its expansive facility in Neuhausen auf den Fildern, Germany. This is home to the FANUC Academy, which offers intensive training and education programs around robotics and CNC machines. It was both enlightening and inspiring to experience the state-of-the-art production processes firsthand. The event highlighted the power of collaboration between industry leaders and innovative startups like iFactory3D.

3D printing hand in hand with proven production processes

It is important to note that iFactory3D’s 3D conveyor belt printer technology is not intended as a replacement for established production techniques such as CNC or injection molding. Rather, serial 3D printing should be seen as a complementary extension that simplifies and optimizes existing processes. This technology is designed to promote lean and flexible production at any location, helping bring manufacturing back on-site. 3D belt printing primarily serves as a springboard for new approaches and ideas. Automated additive manufacturing facilitates the realization of test runs and market entry with pre-series or small series. The result should always be greater variety, so iFactory3D with its technology is a pioneer for more innovation.

Collaboration promotes innovation

Our heartfelt thanks go to all participants, CODE_n and our hosts Marko Gehlen and Christian Schulte. The day was not only a celebration of innovation, but also testament to the spirit of collaboration that drives progress. At iFactory3D, we believe events like this are central to fostering a culture of innovation. Our partnership with CODE_n and our participation in this project meeting have reinforced this. On our journey to revolutionize manufacturing through automated 3D printing, we are excited to be part of a global community that shares our passion for innovation.
