iFactory3D has launched a new crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, the world’s largest platform for funding creative projects. The aim of the startup is to bring the iFactory One 3D printer to market and to leverage additional financing for product upgrades and improvements.
Within the context of the campaign, 3D printing enthusiasts are able to contribute financially to the manufacturing of their own iFactory One printer (at a price below ~$1,000).
The iFactory One is the first 3D printer with an embedded PrinterGUARD error protection system based on artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. It currently identifies and eliminates the five most common 3D printing errors. In the near future, PrinterGUARD AI algorithms are expected to recognize and eliminate up to 20 types of errors.
“Our 3D printer is a unique solution with no analogues in combining a conveyor belt, error detection, and remote printing in one machine. What’s more, the Kickstarter campaign will lead to the start of active sales and mobilization of extra funding sources that are necessary for further software upgrades, AI training, and development.” — Artur Steffen, CEO of iFactory3D
In addition to the integrated PrinterGUARD system, the iFactory One has unique cloud-based technical support that provides customers with regular online service. Moreover, the conveyor belt on the iFactory One (with a non-stop operation mode) enables users to print objects of any shape and length without taking them off the print bed one at a time.
During the crowdfunding project on Kickstarter, iFactory3D plans to raise over $100,000. According to the company, “the first backers will have a chance to receive not only their iFactory One in 2020 but also some branded gifts.”
The iFactory3D company, based in Dusseldorf, Germany, was founded in July 2020 by serial entrepreneur Artur Steffen and inventor and chemist Martin Huber. In a few months, the startup successfully secured partnerships with key business stakeholders and contacted many 3D printing enthusiasts, who responded positively to the price and quality of the iFactory One printer.
